When it comes to exercise, the adage, drink before you are thirsty is one worth paying attention to. But the interesting dilemma is that few people follow that advice. Instead, most exercisers are cued in to drinking only after they feel thirsty, a response that is triggered once the body has already experienced a slight degree of dehydration.

Water, sports drinks, juice, and carbonated soft drinks reign as the top four liquids exercisers claim to drink as part of their hydration or rehydration strategy. Most say they select their beverages based on three criteria: taste, convenience, and caloric value. Rarely do I hear someone say they’ve chosen a fluid because it improves their performance or makes them feel considerably better before, during or after exercise.

SHANAZE READE is aiming to turn a Beijing nightmare into a dream Olympic gold in London next summer.

The BMX rider from Crewe headed for the Beijing Games three years ago as one of Team GB’s nailed-on gold medal hopes.

She said: “Even Chris Hoy said he would stake his mortgage on me winning – that’s how confident everyone was.”

But the Olympic experience for the multi-world champion ended in tears when she crashed out on the very last bend in the women’s final.

£25M Carlos Tevez Will Join Ac Milan

THE Carlos Tevez saga is expected to come to an end this week with the AWOL Manchester City striker joining AC Milan.

City now expect Milan to put cash on the table after originally offering to take Tevez, 27, on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.

The Argentina forward’s personal terms were thrashed out last week at a meeting in Brazil involving the player’s advisor, Kia Joorabchian, and Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani.

City still want £25million for Tevez, money which would enable manager Roberto Mancini to pursue his targets, like Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi, 28.

Soccer Euro 2012 – The Favorites

There are 16 teams vying for a good slot in the Euro 2012 soccer competition. The games are to be played on fields in the Ukraine and Poland in the new year, and the teams will fall into two groups of elimination. Once the first games begin on June 8, 2012, the race starts.

Germany

The Germanic football team takes one of the top slots for being an early favourite in the competition. Germany boasts a well-skilled outfit and a team that has maximum flexibility and flow in its style of play. This makes the country a dangerous contender since it can adapt easily to changing conditions on the soccer field. Germany only sees Spain as its main competition.
